Science Festival Go Oxygen Go!

  We really enjoyed finding out about our bodies with the Glasgow Science Centre.   We found out how our bodies use oxygen.  First we made our hearts work harder by exercising.    These bats were like the hairs in our nose to keep germs from getting into our body.  She was very good at catching the germs!    There were lots of fun activities finding out about the heart, lungs, muscles and blood vessels. 

Building work at Papdale

We have been very interested in seeing (and hearing!) all the building work going on around us in our P1 and P2 classrooms.  We thought we would invite Erlend Drever from WRC Construction to come in and tell us more about how they are making our school even better! This is the insulation blocks that will make our classrooms warmer.  They are made of polystyrene.  Does it look strong enough? First they make the blocks stronger by covering them with the green mesh and render. When Erlend mixed up the render, we thought it looked like making icing for a cake!  Then Erlend threw dashing chips at the wet render to make a coating to protect the wall.  He uses a harling scoop that was his Great Grand Uncle's! Can you remember everything that Erlend wears to keep him safe in his job?  Erlend went to college in Thurso to learn how to be a bricklayer.  When he was peedie his favourite toy was building Lego bricks.  He also needs to be good at
