A visit from Derry's Granny

Image
Derry's Granny came in to P3M to tell us about World War 1. She brought some diaries, cards, books and medals that had belonged to her relative Ted Scott. We listened to some of the diary being read. It was really interesting to hear what life was like on the frontline.

P3 have been learning about Remembrance and the symbol of the poppy. The children have been learning with their families and friends in our community.   Mrs Burgher showed us how to knit poppies. Mr McKinnon told us about his service in the army. Mr Budge spoke to us about his interest in war history His sister, Mrs Adams helped us make a poppy display for the Royal British Legion. Hannah's mum came in to tell us about their family's involvement in WW1 and WW2. We have learned so much. Thank you for helping us with this project William's dad visited 3E and talked about life in the trenches. He organises trips to France with K.G.S. pupils.                       Derren's grandad in 3E talked about his grandad in World War 1. The children made connections with their own family stories.
