Celebrating Sukkot

As part of our Harvest celebrations, we learned about the Jewish festival of Sukkot, when Jews remember being freed from slavery by God.  They spent 40 years in the desert, before finding the Promised Land of Israel.

During their time in the wilderness, they built shelters out of dry palms and branches.  This is called a Sukkah.

During Sukkot, families build Sukkah and spend as much time as they can living in it.

2M went outside to look for a good place to build our Sukkah.

Four plants are important symbols to Jews, including the willow, so we chose this spot among the willow trees.

We enjoyed our story in our Sukkah.
